PREVENTION MUTUAL
GROUP (CSST)
Significant savings available to members
Since 1999, the UDI Quebec Prevention Mutual Group has allowed
participating members to make significant savings far exceeding
the annual cost of membership in the organization. Did you know
that?
Established in 1997 and administered by Groupe AST, the UDI Quebec
Prevention Mutual Group currently has 56 participating employers.
Since 1997, the companies participating in the UDI Quebec Prevention
Mutual Group have realized significant savings, especially after
the first year of operation, in 2000.
How it works
Born from the Act Respecting Occupational Health and Safety, which
came into force in 1996, the prevention mutual group is an insurance
product specifically designed for small and medium size businesses
seeking premiums reflecting the efforts they make in occupational
health and safety. It brings together employers involved in a process
aimed at preventing employment injuries, and facilitating rehabilitation
and the return to work of injured workers in order to benefit from
rates reflecting their efforts. By forming a prevention mutual group,
employers are collectively insured under the personalized rate method,
taking into account their occupational health and safety performance.
The CSST was pursuing a dual objective with the mutual prevention
group. Firstly, to induce SMBs to take steps to improve the occupational
health and safety of their employees, and secondly, to ensure that,
for each year of participation in a mutual prevention group, SMBs
pay insurance premiums corresponding to their actual performance.
Savings: an actual case
Joining the UDI Quebec Prevention Mutual Group allows organizations
to experience a reduction in their assessment rate right from the
first year of participation. For example, one subsidiary of a UDI
Quebec member has achieved savings in excess of $70,000 over the
past six years. Ant this is only a subsidiary of a real estate company
operating in the Montreal area, with real estate assets slightly
in excess of $20 million. Imagine the collective savings for all
subsidiaries! The savings are largely sufficient to cover the cost
of membership in UDI Quebec for the parent Company, which are $2,575.
Membership in UDI Quebec can therefore be financially rewarding,
in addition to the political representation and networking opportunities.
Think about it!
